PuffHost Release Casual Encounters,' An Ode to Romance

Synth-pop duo PuffHost recently released a new single, entitled “Casual Encounters,” an ode to romance in the digital age, where relationships can hinge on a left or right swipe.

According to PuffHost, “It’s easy to hide behind the screen, but when things start to get real, we end up trying way too hard.”

Made up of a pair of millennials, Sadderday the Rapper and Sorry the Kid, who hang out in Long Beach, California, PuffHost describes their sound as “No-Fux pop.” Their influences encompass a vast array of artists, ranging from Snoop Dogg to Sacha Baron Cohen.

“Casual Encounters” rides a creamy synth-pop melody flavored with tasty hip-hop vibes and hints of seductive R&B savors. The rhythm features a profound bass line from the depths of hell, pulsing and popping with buff force, as tight drums add the tempo.

The juxtaposition of cashmere, almost yacht-rock-like, flows of color from the synths with the cavernous bottom of the rhythm infuses the tune with two delicious layers of harmonics. Full of retro ‘90s momentum, seductive and erotic, the music undulates with Barry White tumescence, and then throws in an outburst of Olivia Newton John’s “Physical” that’s not only wittily appropriate, but blends well with the thrust of the music and the lyrics.

The video, directed by PuffHost, is a blast. It opens at a spa, where the guys are getting their nails done, while one of them holds a baby. A text from a potential romantic interest sends the pair to a boutique shop, on their scooters, where they shop for a “sexy” outfit. When he finally shows at her apartment, she’s wearing a fishnet body suit and abruptly throws him on the bed, where, another guy, who’s there for who knows what, eats popcorn while he videos the couple’s liaison.

The video is a hoot, while “Casual Encounters” is trendy and full of tech-laden rhymes defining the detached ambiance of present day relationships.
